At MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, the young men have been given the opportunity to work with playwright Francesca Piantadosi to create their own plays. 
Piantadosi offers terms of eight weeks, wherein she assists the young men in drafting their own plays, that are then performed at the end of term by actors. This experience gives the men an opportunity to express themselves and create something to be proud of.
The plays vary widely in subject matter. The young men gather and review each other’s plays, offering comments and feedback. Several of them come back for additional terms with Piantadosi. Piantadosi hopes that the experience of writing these plays will help the men transition back into society after their time at MacLaren.
